Effective Radon Mitigation in Garden City

What You Need to Know About Radon Testing

Our quick and convenient scheduling ensures you can promptly set an appointment for radon testing at a time that works for you. Here, we install a continuous radon detector to collect data and plan another meeting to review the findings. During that time, they will print the radon test results and discuss them with you.

Steps to Take If Your Home Has High Radon Levels

If radon levels in your home are higher than 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends you seek radon reduction solutions. That is where Idaho Radon can help! We will custom design a radon mitigation system personalized to your unique situation:

  1. Depressurizing the soil beneath the structure prevents radon gas from moving through the house, addressing the stack effect or natural movement of air/radon in your home.
  2. We create a suction point(s) by drilling into the concrete foundation slab, basement floor, or surrounding earth. Then we connect a PVC pipe.
  3. Gas is vented through a pipe running through a fan in the attic or along the top of the home, expelling radon outside.
  4. Using a urethane caulking compound, our specialists seal all radon entry points, such as cracks, gaps, and openings.
  5. A final system analysis is performed to examine the fan and other key system details to ensure equipment performs correctly.
  6. We schedule a radon test within 30 days of the system installation, making sure the system is working.

Job Stories From Garden City, ID
Mutli-Family Sub Slab Depressurization

The property is a multi-family building consisting of approximately 20 ground-floor units, with additional second- and third-story levels. Property management conducted radon sampling in select ground-floor units, and one unit within this building recorded radon concentrations exceeding the EPA action level of 4.0 pCi/L.

The client, a previous customer of Idaho Radon, contacted us to develop a mitigation proposal. A site visit was conducted to evaluate the building and identify optimal locations for the suction point and mitigation fan. Equipment placement was carefully selected to minimize visual impact, with routing along a corner of the building to preserve the exterior aesthetics.

Installation of the sub-slab depressurization system was completed by a two-person crew in approximately four hours. Minor challenges included the presence of tree roots and sprinkler lines; however, these did not significantly impede progress. The slab was underlain by an excellent road base, allowing for effective development of the collection cavity and strong pressure field extension beneath the slab.

Post-mitigation radon testing indicated an overall average concentration of 0.6 pCi/L, confirming the effectiveness and success of the mitigation system.
