Radon Mitigation Photo Album: Crawlspace Encapsulation in Boise, ID
During the purchase of a home in Boise, a radon test identified levels above 4.0 pCi/L. The older home had limited ventilation, with several crawlspace vents blocked by insulation in the floor joists, reducing the amount of fresh air moving through the area. To address the problem, Idaho Radon encapsulated the crawlspace with a 6-mil vapor barrier, carefully sealing around posts and along the concrete foundation walls.
We then installed a RadonAway RP145 fan to actively depressurize the newly encapsulated crawlspace and reduce radon entering the home. Post-mitigation testing showed excellent results, with the radon level reduced to an average of just 0.6 pCi/L.
